Arabic Knowledge Requirements1. Be able to write the Arabic letters neatly and correctly. 2. Be able to join the letters and to know when joining is not permissible. 3. Know the prefix Fa: "and then". 4. Mastery of the suffix pronouns must be mastered and demonstrated at a reasonable level. i.e. Tu, Ti, Ta, Kum, Kunna, Hum, Hunna, Hu, Ha, Naa. (Kitabuhu- his book, etc...) 5. The following adverbs and adjectives must be mastered: Kulla (every), Jeddan (very), Qareeb (close), Al-an: Now. Ba'eed (far), Qareeb (near), Inna (certainly, surely, verily), Alathzee (those), Oola-ika (those or them), (these last two in their different forms). 6. The grammar tool, Laysa (is not) in all its forms must be introduced. 7. The verb of place, kana, Kun, makan, etc. (to be or to be at a place), must be introduced. 8. How to use the evocative, Yaa (O...). 9. Word order in grammar: noun then adjective, verb then noun or noun then verb must be reinforced and strengthened. 10. With the grammar rules taught thus far, and in previous grades, along with the vocabulary load, any third grade student should be able to translate simple passages from A rabic to English and vice versa.11. Know more basic vocabulary including working knowledge of ten new
verbs and ten new nouns that are drawn from the Qur'an.
12. The use of le anna: "Because" and lemadha "Why." 13. Using Aydan: "Also" 14. Other prepositions to introduce: Barra: Outside. 'Inda: Near to. Lakin: But. Ba'd: After. Min Qabl: From Before. 15. Make sure the students have mastered the past tense of verbs and their forms learned thus far. Tajweed rules must be at least one third mastered. 16. Other vocabulary words, though not necessarily from the Qur'an, can be introduced. Such words as Kombutor (computer), Souk, (market), Sayarah, (car), etc... But do not let yourself fall into the temptation of giving them lists of words such as elbow, eye-brow, paper clip, etc... Stick primarily to Qur'anic or ahadith vocabulary only.
