In the name of Allah, the Compassionate Source of All Mercy

From the book: "Preparation for Returning to Allah"     by Ibn Hajar Al Aqilani

Whose prayer will not be accepted?

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: There are ten groups from which Allah will not accept their prayer:
1. A man who prays alone and does not recite anything from the Qur'an in his prayer
2. a man who does not pay the zakaat
3. a person who leads the people in prayer and they hate him
4. a man who is a rebellious servant
5. an alcoholic
6. a woman who goes to bed while her husband is angry with her
7. a free woman who prays without a veil
8
. the one who takes interest
9. a tyrannical ruler
10. a man whose prayers do not prevent him from lewdness and transgression and only pushes him further away from Allah.

This saying of the Blessed Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, presents us with a shopping list of faults we should all learn to avoid.

Perhaps the most telling of these is the last one which can indict many of us.  We make our Salah but then do not prevent ourselves from falling into error.  What is the worth of the Salah then?

As for the article about the woman praying with her head covered, this is also mentioned in other religious traditions, such as in the Christian New Testament.  It is long understood that by covering her hair, a woman is making the statement that her value is not defined by her physical beauty, such as society deems, but by her humble heart and sincerity.
